Canteen Knockout has just begun charting on college radio with songs from Navajo Steel. Dad Song and Back to the Country are currently in rotatio on CJAM
Windsor/Detroit - CFRU Guelph - CJSW
Calagary - and XMU on XM Radio

In other news, Canteen Knockout have just recorded bed tracks for 12 brand new songs. They are currently in the studio working on their second full length album.

Canteen Knockout has just recently been signed to (weewerk) Records and is now in good company with bands such as the United Steel Workers of Montreal, and Great Lake Swimmers. This is very exciting news as Navajo Steel will be re-realeased digitally and the band hopes to release their next album with the label.

Canteen Knockout latest album has just recently been picked up by XM Satellite Radio's channel XMU. The song "Back to the Country" was played featured THE RADAR REPORT, and is now in rotation.

JANUARY 3, 2007

Andre Skinner has been hard at work writing brand new tunes and has gone out to showcase them at the Central in Toronto where all tunes were very well received by the humble crowd of about 20 people. SStay tuned for upcoming shows in the new year and some new demo recordings that will be up on myspace shortly.

 

JUNE 18 , 2007

Canteen Knockout will be back in gigging action in August 2007 with an exciting show at the Silver Dollar with James Carroll and Arthur Renwick. The band is very excited for the show and will be really pushing to get a packed house so if you plan on coming to the show get there early for all the great music.

Canteen Knockout are officially back playing live after taking a little performing break from their CD release party in September. They're starting things off right with a show at the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern, where they will be sharing the stage with Stella Panacci and Shannon Briggs. Dec 15th they will be playing a christmas show at Mitsi's Sister, so come on out and enjoy the great music with us.

Canteen Knockout 's CD release party is right around the corner September 15th 2006 at the Cadillac Lounge and the boys are very excited. This CD is the band's first full length album with 13 great songs. The recording of this CD started over 3 years ago and the tunes were chosen from over 30 recorded tracks.

To promote the CD release the band appeared on The Toronto Indie Scene radio show to play some live tunes and be interviewed by host Joe Chisholm.

Canteen Knockout have just come off a big weekend, the band played in front of thousands at Pride 2006 on the main stage. "I was getting pretty nervous when I first saw the size of the crowd we would be entertaining" says Andre Skinner of the band. They played one of their best shows ever and the crowd loved them.

Pride 2006 is right around the corner and is Toronto's biggest event with more a million visitors yearly, this year Canteen Knockout will be performing Saturday June 24th at 4:00pm on the TD Canada Trust Stage (Church at Gloucester St.). Canteen Knockout just recently rocked Peterborough's Montreal
House for their first out of town gig. The night started with some
country croonin' and lots of twang, by the 3rd set the boys
we're rockin' hard with tunes like Heartbreak, Street Fighting
Man and the brand new original Balls out Truckin. It was a kickass
night in Peterborough and the boys are looking forward rockin the
Moho in the near future.

Canteen Knockout has a new drummer by the name of Jake Adams,
he was officially broken in last Saturday night January 14th at Mitzy's
Sister, the band's first show for 2006.

The show was amazing and Canteen Knockout packed the bar,
Mitzy's Sister is a really great place and the vibe is always
really cool and comfortable. Canteen Knockout is really excited
for 2006 as they have a CD soon to be released and some out
of town shows coming up, so they are looking forward to great
things for the new year.


November 20, 2005

Hey there, Canteen Knockout just finished their new CD, it's not
manufactured yet but advance copies are already being mailed
out to industry folk. The CD contains 11 new original songs that
really kick ass. The CD will be released in the new year, so stay
tuned for out official launch date and CD Realease party.

October 21, 2005

Canteen Knockout just played their first show at Mitzy's Sister
and had and awesome night, they we're asked back for an
upcoming Saturday night performance sometime in January.

The Canteen Knockout recordings are finished and are in the final
stages of mixing soon to be masteted. No release date as of yet.

September 20, 2005

Canteen Knockout will be performing at the famous Masonic
Temple in Toronto on Saturday October 29th for a Blues
Festival fundraiser. In other news the band has booked studio
time to finalize mixing for the full length album, there should
be a rough cut by the week of September 25th. Release date
still T.B.A.

Yeah I know I said this like a year ago but Canteen Knockout
has just hit the studio again for their final session to finish the
CD. 10 songs are on the way for all you people and we hope to
get them released no later than September.

Canteen Knockout has 5 new MP3's on the website

the tunes are 5 new demo's some of which
will end up on the up coming album. And speaking of album
Canteen returns to the studio to get the last set of bed tracks
down this weekend of July 24th to begin the last leg of
recordings for the full length album due out in the fall.

Canteen Knockout came out swingin' at Miguels (Club 329)
last Saturday night stepping up and delivering a 2 solid
twangin' sets to crowd very much into to the music. Canteen
Knockout will be back at Club 329 in August and on a rotating
schedule every six weeks from then on.

year in a row at the North By Northeast Music fesital in
Toronto. This will be the band's first performance with their
new drummer and guitarist, the band will be showcasing some

With all the members now in place Canteen Knockout is
rehearsing and preparing for spring/summer shows around
Toronto. Booking will begin next week and the shows will be

Canteen Knockout has recruited lead guitarist and pedal steel
master Alex (olish) Maxymiw as a full-time member of the
band. Skinner and Maxymiw have been in the studio
continuing the ongoing recording process of the upcoming
full length CD slated for summer 2005. Canteen Knockout is
eager to get back on the live circuit for 2005 to show off
brand new material and rock Toronto.


February 22, 2005

Anxiously awaiting the return of bassist Scott Whitmore for
his western vacation, Canteen Knockout is eager to start
booking Toronto shows for the spring and summer.
Rehearsals will resume in March 2005 and the band is
shooting to be in top form by the end of the month.

 

January 10, 2005

After a succesful show in Nashville at the French Quarter
Café Canteen Knockout has yet another great show to
ad to their list. Despite the early slot at 6:45pm the crowd
was surprisingly decent with roughly 20 people in the room
it turned out great. Canteen Knockout is eager to head back
to
Nashville for future dates.

December 17, 2004

Recording dates have been confirmed to finish up Canteen
Knockout's first full length CD, it has been a long time
coming and the band is really excited to finally get the
recording finished. Release dates for the CD are T.B.A.


December 1, 2004

Canteen Knocout has officially ligned up a show in Nashville
Tennessee for December 30th 2004. This will be a great way
to end the year and prepare for great thing to come in 2005.

November 5, 2004

Canteen Knocout is finally ready to hit the clubs again.
After recently aquiring a brand new drummer, Canteen
Knockout have begun rehearsing their new material and
will very soon be booking live shows.

Now with all the members in place, Canteen Knockout is
eager to finish recording their full length debut CD.
The sessions are anticipated to happen in December.

October 15, 2004

Our newest member is a lead guitarist by the name of Mark
Olynyk, he a seasoned musician originally from Vancouver
who's ready to blaze the leads for the Knockout.
Getting
back into playing shape, we are now rehearsing and gearing
to start playing live again in about a month. Now all we
need is a drummer.

October 5, 2004

Yeah I know, it's been awhile since we've played live but
there's good news on the rise, we have a new lead guitarist
who is working out just great, now the only missing peice
to the band is getting a dedicated drummer. We are looking
to start playing live at the end of October or early
November.

In other news we are one more session away from
completing the full length CD. You can expect upwards
of 10 songs.

September 22, 2004

Auditions have begun for a new guitarist and drummer for
live shows. We are hoping to be back in the clubs by mid to
late October. Stay tuned to the gigs section of the site for

Canteen Knockout has officially set up an E-STORE with
Indie Pool so you can purchase our 5 song E.P. online safe
and securely. NOT CURRENTLY ACTIVATED

In other news, the new record is coming along great with
over 9 tracks that are currently being mixed. Stay tuned
for upcoming demo's.

As far as playing live goes, we are currently seeking new
members for September shows and in the meantime taking
a break for recording purposes.

Holy smokes, we're playing with Great Big Sea. Yeah that's
right, Canteen Knockout is heading to the Molson
Amphitheatre July 3rd to play the side stage as one of the
opening acts at the Great Big Sea concert.

NXNE 2004 was a great time at the Black Bull, there were
lots of people hanging and enjoying the music and having a
great time all-round. Things couldn't have gone better with
our fill in drummer Ben, he really pulled through like a pro
and we're looking forward to having him back in the lineup
for the 26th at the Cameron House. Thank you all for
supporting the music and we'll do it again soon.

Canteen Knockout has just been confirmed to play at the
2004 North by Northeast Music Festival and Conference.
The show will be June 12th at the Black Bull for a
12:00midnight Showtime.


So far so good. This has been a great year for the band; having
already played at the 2004 Canadian Music Week and numerous
others shows around town, be prepared for a wild night at the Bull...

After recently meeting with Darryl Hurs of Gen Sub Records
(Toronto based indie Label), Canteen Knockout have set up a
developement deal and will officially be on the Gen Sub Roster
very soon.

The new record is coming along great and is looking promising
for a summer

is sure to be a big party for the cd's official release date.

After a very succesful showcase during Canadian Music Week

CANTEEN KNOCKOUT - Press Release Since its inception
in late August 2003, Canteen Knockout has made some
progressive moves on the Toronto Indie Rock scene. With only a
handful of gigs under their belts, the members have managed to
confirm a spot at the 2004 Canadian Music Week Festival on
Saturday, March 6th. The band has also released a five-song
E.P., had a feature article in The Spill Magazine, and has played
two shows at the Legendary Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto.

Canteen Knockout's 2004 CMW appearance will not be your
average show -- it will be presented by Gen-Sub Records and
RCD Music, two big players on the Toronto Independent
Music scene. The show is guaranteed to pack a full house,
with fans and industry people alike. This showcase will be the
band's last performance before they head for the studio to start
recording their debut full-length record.


Canteen Knockout live at the Saturday March 6th at The B-Side
(129 Peter St. above Fez Batik), 10:30pm sharp, along with
Crash Kelly, Human and many more...
